Liquor bottles worth ` 37K seized at Margao

Around eight unclaimed bags containing around 265 bottles were found abandoned at the Margao railway station during a special Independence Day search conducted at the Margao railway station since rnlast night.

The total value of the liqour was pegged at around Rs 37,100 in the market.  The search was conducted by a RPF team led by police inspector Ranjit Marande as part of the exercise on the eve of Independence Day. The bags were found abandoned on both the railway platforms. Sources in the know suspect that the unclaimed bags were stored on the platforms for loading on the long distance trains 
heading down South and 
to Mumbai.

MMC caught on wrong foot over garbage collection

Mormugao Municipal Council has failed to collect garbage from the port town and other areas as its labourers are busy collecting waste from the Saptah fair.
